Distribution 產地 ﹕
in all provinces of southern part of China. Mainly produced in Henan, Guangdong, Sichuan, Jiangsu.
中國南方各省均產。主產於河南密 縣、禹縣；廣東南海、佛山；四川樂山、華陽、溫江；江蘇鎮江、靖江、泰州等地。
Properties (characteristics) 性味﹕
sweet, slightly cold.
甘，微寒。

肺 ，胃，肝三經。
Medical functions 藥理﹕
In vitro, it showed that zhu ru posseses inhibiting effect on Staphylococcus albus, Hay bacillus, Bacillus coli and typhoid bacillus.
在體外試驗，竹茹有抑制白色葡萄球菌，枯草桿菌，大腸桿菌，傷寒桿菌之作用。

Treatment for lung heat type of cough with yellow phlegm: make decoction of 10 g of zhu ru. Drink as tea.
治肺熱咳嗽，咳吐黄痰：用竹茹10 克煎水服。(上海常用草药）
Cautions 禁忌﹕
do not use in cases of cold phlegm, pixu (spleen deficient) with loose stool..
